The province of Oran, Algeria, is preparing to launch a new vocational training and apprenticeship program in October 2026, aimed at meeting the growing demand for skilled professionals in innovative fields. The program is part of a broader effort to provide young people with the skills they need to succeed in the economy. The Oran Provincial Directorate for Vocational Training has announced that it will provide all necessary resources to ensure the program's success.
A new provincial committee has been established to oversee the program's preparations, including monitoring the readiness of training institutions. The committee will ensure that institutions have the necessary digital registration, pedagogical equipment, and services, including catering and accommodation. The committee's efforts will help guarantee a successful launch of the new program.
The training program will include 12,000 new pedagogical positions across 30 institutions in the province. Three new specializations have been added to the program, including cybersecurity, embedded electronics, and intelligent systems. These specializations are designed to meet the current technological and digital transformations.
The cybersecurity program will be offered at the Mرفال Institute and will last for 30 months. The embedded electronics and intelligent systems program will be offered at the السانية Institute, also for 30 months. A short-term program in car charging and lighting circuit maintenance will be offered at the مرسى الحجاج center, lasting three months.
The Oran province's vocational training sector is considered a leader in Algeria, with a network of six national specialized institutes, two excellence centers, 23 vocational training centers, and over 100 private institutions. This network provides comprehensive coverage of the province's municipalities and districts.
New projects are being implemented to strengthen the training system, including the construction of a new vocational training and apprenticeship center in سيدي الشحمي. The center will help alleviate pressure on existing institutions and provide training opportunities for young people in the region.
The provincial authorities are also working to establish partnerships with industrial institutions, including a recent agreement with the vivo phone manufacturing plant in السانيا. The agreement will provide training for 40 young people in smartphone assembly and aims to provide them with advanced digital and technological skills.
