The National Office for Literacy and Adult Education (ONAEA) in Algeria has launched an enrollment campaign for its literacy courses, which will run until the end of September. The initiative, organized by the Ouargla branch of ONAEA, aims to promote the office's programs and encourage various segments of the population to join the literacy classes. This effort includes distributing brochures and other communication materials to inform potential students about the available courses.

According to Leïla Ghouam, director of the ONAEA-Ouargla branch, the campaign seeks to introduce the services provided by the office and attract new learners. The enrollment process, which began on September 1, is expected to draw a significant number of new students, in addition to the 2,943 students already registered across two levels. The literacy drive is a crucial step towards enhancing education and literacy rates among adults in Algeria.

For the new academic year, the Ouargla province has established 130 literacy classes, with 92 located in urban areas and 38 in rural areas. These classes are spread across various venues, including mosques, Quranic schools, youth and cultural centers, and rehabilitation and prevention facilities. A total of 74 instructors have been assigned to oversee these classes, ensuring that students receive proper guidance and support.

One of the notable features of this year's literacy program is the inclusion of specialized classes for visually impaired students. Two such classes have been set up in Ouargla, one at the 24-February Youth Center and the other at the Moufdi-Zakaria Cultural Center. The necessary resources have been allocated to these centers to provide an adaptive learning environment for visually impaired students.

The literacy classes are designed to cater to different segments of the population, with a focus on enhancing literacy rates and providing education to those who may have missed out on formal schooling. By establishing classes in various locations, including rural areas, the ONAEA aims to reach a broader audience and make education more accessible to all.

The campaign to promote literacy and encourage enrollment is part of Algeria's efforts to improve education and reduce illiteracy. The government has been working to enhance education infrastructure and provide opportunities for adult learners to acquire new skills and knowledge. The literacy drive is expected to have a positive impact on the country's education landscape.

As the enrollment campaign continues, prospective students are encouraged to join the literacy classes and take advantage of the educational opportunities provided by the ONAEA. With its focus on accessibility and inclusivity, the literacy program aims to make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of Algerians.
