The city of Ghilizane in Algeria's Ghilizane province recently hosted a series of events to commemorate World Tourism Day, which falls on September 27th every year. This year's theme was "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence for Tourism Redesign." The events were organized at the Mohamed Isiakhm Cultural Center in Ghilizane and brought together representatives from the tourism sector, several stakeholders, and local clubs involved in camping and hiking.

The events included an exhibition showcasing the province's tourist attractions, various hotel facilities, and services related to tourism. The exhibition was inaugurated by Ghilizane's Secretary General, Dega Aribi. During the opening ceremony, Aribi emphasized that developing local tourism involves enhancing reception capacities, particularly by building new hotel projects that meet visitor needs. He also stressed the importance of attracting and encouraging investors to implement projects in this field.

The exhibition provided an opportunity to highlight several sites and potential tourist areas in the province. It also introduced the activities of clubs and associations involved in camping and hiking, which play a crucial role in discovering natural sites and promoting them, especially among young people. According to Ismail Safa, Director of Tourism and Traditional Industry in Ghilizane, the World Tourism Day celebrations serve as an occasion to promote the province's heritage and tourist attractions.

Ismail Safa further noted that the goal is to make Ghilizane more prominent on the domestic tourism map. He emphasized the importance of enhancing tourist sites and promoting them using modern digital media, especially given the global transformations in the sector. Developing tourism, he added, requires not only attractive sites but also the provision of necessary services and facilities to receive visitors.

The events also included a hike organized by the Ain Kermane Club for Camping and Hiking in Wadi Rahiou. The club's president highlighted the significance of natural tourism in promoting the province's areas and pointed out that organizing camping and hiking trips helps discover these sites while stressing the need to preserve the environment and respect the privacy of natural areas.

As part of the program, a symposium was organized to discuss the development of tourist areas in Ghilizane. The symposium provided a platform for sharing ideas and proposals on how to exploit local potential and develop tourist destinations. The discussions focused on strategies to enhance the province's tourism sector and make it more competitive.

The Ghilizane province is home to over 2600 vocational training seats, with specialties that align with the job market. In a related development, Tlemcen's Telmesin University and Mohammad Boudiaf Hospital have partnered to offer medical examinations as part of their twinning program. Furthermore, Mostaganem's El Mereine and Al-Hedaya mosques are set to benefit from two renovation projects.
