Algerian Culture Minister, Malika Bendeddouche, recently met with Russian Culture Minister, Olga Lyubimova, on the sidelines of the 12th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. The meeting resulted in the signing of an executive program for cultural cooperation between the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts and the Russian Ministry of Culture, dubbed "2030 Horizons". During the meeting, Bendeddouche and Lyubimova discussed ways to strengthen cultural and artistic relations between Algeria and Russia. They emphasized the importance of continuing to develop bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as cinema, theater, music, and artistic training. The ministers also touched on preparations for the 2027 celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Russia.
The two ministers explored opportunities for developing cinematic cooperation, including training and exchanging expertise and specialized skills, as well as producing documentary films. Bendeddouche highlighted the rich cultural heritage shared by Algeria and Russia, noting that many Algerian elites had received their cultural and artistic training in Russia and were now prominent figures in Algeria's cultural scene.
Lyubimova praised the participation of Algerian children in a cultural forum for children held in Moscow last August, saying it contributed to strengthening ties between the two countries. The forum was part of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, which took place from September 23 to 27.
