The Algerian National Meteorological Office (ONM) has issued several special weather bulletins (BMS) of level 2, warning of significant rainfall in various regions of the country. Three level 2 BMS are currently in effect, covering multiple wilayas across the country. A second bulletin covers several wilayas in the East and Northeast, including Tizi Ouzou, Béjaïa, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Sétif, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Khenchela, and Tébessa.

The second bulletin, which takes effect from October 8, 21:00, to October 9, 21:00, predicts rainfall accumulations between 20 and 40 mm, with some coastal areas potentially experiencing over 50 mm of rain. A third bulletin affects Naâma, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbès, Saïda, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Médéa, and Djelfa, with expected rainfall accumulations between 20 and 40 mm from October 8, 12:00, to 23:00.

In addition to these level 2 BMS, other regions are under level 1 vigilance, with rain forecasted for El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Béjaïa, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdès, Alger, Tipaza, Chlef, Souk Ahras, Guelma, Sétif, Bordj Bou Arréridj, Bouira, Blida, Aïn Defla, El Bayadh, Béchar, Béni Abbès, and Tindouf. Thunderstorm activity is also expected in a larger area, including Constantine, Mila, Médéa, Tissemsilt, M’Sila, Djelfa, Tiaret, Laghouat, Saïda, Sidi Bel Abbès, Tlemcen, Naâma, Adrar, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and Ouargla.

The weather disturbance is not expected to subside soon, with rain forecasted for several regions on October 9. Wilayas expected to experience rain include El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Béjaïa, Tizi Ouzou, Souk Ahras, Guelma, Constantine, Mila, Sétif, Bordj Bou Arréridj, Bouira, Tébessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Khenchela, Batna, Tiaret, Saïda, Sidi Bel Abbès, Tlemcen, Naâma, Béchar, Béni Abbès, Tindouf, Adrar, and Bordj Badji Mokhtar.

Thunderstorms are also expected to affect several wilayas on October 9, including M’Sila and Djelfa. Local authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution during this rainy episode, particularly in mountainous areas and sectors prone to sudden flooding. Drivers are advised to be cautious on roads affected by these weather conditions.

The Algerian meteorological office has warned of the potential for severe weather conditions, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected to continue over the next 24 hours. Residents are advised to stay informed about the latest weather forecasts and to follow evacuation instructions from local authorities if necessary.
