The Algerian government has published a new decree, number 26-307, dated September 22, 2026, which outlines the details of a new scholarship program for underprivileged students. The program provides a scholarship of 5,000 Algerian dinars per student, as part of a solidarity mechanism aimed at supporting students from low-income families. The decree was published in the 69th issue of the Official Gazette.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be enrolled in a public education institution or a specialized public education institution, and their families must meet specific social conditions defined by law. The program targets students whose parents or legal guardians have no income or have a monthly income equal to or less than the guaranteed national minimum wage.

The application process for the scholarship involves several steps. The student's guardian or legal representative must complete an application form, which is attached to the decree, and submit it to the director of the educational institution where the student is enrolled. The institution's management must then validate the application. The application file must include a copy of the biometric identity document of the parents or guardian, a certificate of no income or a salary statement, and a certificate of non-affiliation to social security bodies.

In addition to the validated application form, the application file must also include a postal receipt with the beneficiary's postal account information, allowing the scholarship amount to be directly deposited into their account. Once submitted, the application files will be forwarded to the social development services of the municipality concerned, where they will be processed and verified to ensure that the applicants meet the legal conditions for eligibility.

The application form includes essential information about the student, such as their name, surname, date of birth, school identification number, and level of study, as well as a section for validation by the institution's director. The form also requires information about the guardian or legal representative and the family's social situation, including income, social security number, and social category.

The new scholarship program aims to support underprivileged students and help them continue their education. The program's conditions and procedures for eligibility have been modified to ensure that the scholarships are awarded to those who need them most. The Algerian government hopes that this program will have a positive impact on the education sector and the lives of low-income families.

The scholarship program is part of the Algerian government's efforts to improve education and reduce social inequality. The program will be implemented through the country's education institutions and social development services, ensuring that the scholarships are awarded fairly and transparently.
