The Algerian government has introduced new measures to reduce delays in the treatment of imported vehicles in the country's ports. The measures, announced by the Direction de la marine marchande et des ports, are aimed at addressing problems regularly encountered with documents accompanying vehicles imported from China. The new measures are expected to ease difficulties faced by citizens importing vehicles, particularly those from China.

The problems encountered with vehicle imports from China are largely related to incorrect information on transport and shipping documents. These errors can concern the identity of beneficiaries or data related to the vehicles, leading to additional delays before customs clearance can be finalized. The Direction de la marine marchande et des ports notes that frequent errors are observed in shipping documents issued by transporters or shippers.

The new measures provide that the costs associated with delays in correcting documents will no longer be borne by the citizens concerned, but by the party responsible for the error. If the errors are attributable to the transporter, consortium or their representatives in Algeria, the additional costs incurred by these delays in ports will have to be assumed by the responsible party.

The Direction de la marine marchande et des ports has called on maritime agents to ensure the application of these provisions and to respect the rules provided for by the executive decree 340-20 relating to the conditions for exercising maritime transport support activities. Failure to comply with these obligations may result in the application of administrative measures and sanctions provided for by the regulations in force.

The new measures are expected to improve the efficiency of vehicle import operations and reduce delays in Algerian ports. The measures are also expected to encourage transporters and shippers to ensure the accuracy of shipping documents. The Algerian government has been working to improve the business environment and facilitate trade.

The port of Djen Djen has recently strengthened its transshipment activity, and the government is working to improve the country's transportation infrastructure. The president of Algeria, Tebboune, has ordered the immediate launch of several railway projects, including the Laghouat-El Meniaa-In Salah-Tamanrasset line.

The new measures are part of a broader effort to improve the efficiency of Algeria's ports and reduce bureaucracy. The government has also adopted the 2027 finance bill, which provides for the integration of salary increases and other measures to support economic growth.
