Algeria and Spain have recently signed two agreements to enhance cooperation in the red meat sector. The agreements were signed in Algiers during a bilateral meeting between Algerian and Spanish organizations, focusing on the theme "Unite Markets, Strengthen the Sector." The first agreement was concluded between the Algerian Red Meat Company (ALVIAR), a subsidiary of the AGROLOG group, and Spanish organizations INTEROVIC and PROVACUNO.

The second agreement was signed between these two organizations and the National Union of Algerian Red Meat Importers. The agreements aim to promote the exchange of information and experiences, improve animal breeds, and enhance logistical cooperation. ALVIAR's President-Director General, Mohamed Rezgui, stated that the agreements will help meet the demand for red meat during Ramadan, in line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Rezgui emphasized that the group is taking all necessary measures to ensure a stable supply of red meat during Ramadan, in coordination with the Ministry of Trade. Meanwhile, Sofiane Bahbou, spokesperson for the National Union of Algerian Red Meat Importers, revealed that preparations for Ramadan began six months in advance to avoid any supply disruptions.

Bahbou expressed confidence that all necessary quantities of red meat will be imported, and the partnership with Spanish operators will facilitate their investment in Algeria, particularly in modernizing slaughterhouses and developing intensive livestock farming in the south. The agreements are expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote sustainable development in the sector.

Spanish Ambassador to Algeria, Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller, highlighted his country's willingness to go beyond commercial exchanges and develop a durable bilateral cooperation in the livestock sector. He noted that Spain is Algeria's primary supplier of red meat. The economic and commercial counselor of the Spanish Embassy, Cristina E. Olazabal Valiente, recalled that Algeria is the first non-EU destination for Spanish beef exports.

The meeting concluded with B2B meetings between Algerian and Spanish economic operators to explore cooperation and partnership opportunities in the red meat sector. The agreements are expected to enhance the exchange of expertise and technology, ultimately benefiting both countries. The partnerships will focus on sustainable development and meeting the growing demand for red meat in Algeria.

The strengthened cooperation between Algeria and Spain is expected to have a positive impact on the Algerian market, ensuring a stable supply of red meat and promoting economic growth. The agreements mark a significant step towards deepening bilateral relations and fostering a collaborative approach to addressing the challenges in the red meat sector.
