Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, welcomed Austrian Federal Minister for Economy, Energy and Tourism, Wolfgang Hatzmayer, in Algiers on Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and expand partnership between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector. The meeting was attended by the Austrian Ambassador to Algeria, Wolfgang Spadinger, and several other high-ranking officials from both countries.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of Algerian-Austrian relations, which are based on mutual respect, dialogue, and understanding. Minister Arkab assured his Austrian counterpart that the energy sector is committed to continuing to support Austrian companies that wish to develop their activities and investments in Algeria. He emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for partnerships that benefit both parties, particularly in areas such as technology, engineering, services, and industrial solutions.
Minister Hatzmayer praised Algeria's position as a reliable and important energy partner, expressing the interest of Austrian companies in strengthening their presence in the Algerian market and exploring new opportunities for cooperation and investment, particularly in the energy sector and related technologies.
The two parties also discussed cooperation in areas related to reducing emissions, decreasing carbon footprint, and developing and using gas more efficiently. They highlighted the importance of training, applied research, and developing competencies, as well as promoting local manufacturing and creating added value in Algeria.
