Algeria's Minister of Interior and Local Communities, Ibrahim Mourad, has announced that the proposed budget for the interior and local communities sector for 2027 is approximately $1.562 billion. This allocation aims to support local development, finance neighborhood projects, and improve public services. The budget also focuses on completing regional organization, modernizing administration, and enhancing the capabilities of security and civil protection devices.
The budget was presented to the National People's Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee on October 24, in the presence of Minister of Relations with Parliament, Najiiba Jellali. During the presentation, Minister Mourad reviewed the legislative measures and financial allocations proposed for the sector, highlighting the spending axes and priorities for the coming period. The new budget prioritizes local community development and improving the living environment for citizens.
The budget allocates resources to finance neighborhood and urgent projects, particularly those related to access to drinking water, sanitation, electricity, and gas connections, as well as isolating remote areas, maintaining municipal roads, and schools. The budget also aims to improve the urban environment and upgrade local facilities. Furthermore, the financial allocations aim to enhance the capabilities and financial resources of municipalities.

Efforts are also being made to enhance the role of governors in monitoring public investment programs.
The proposed budget focuses on accelerating digital transformation and updating information systems, ensuring continuity in issuing biometric documents and improving the performance of identity and civil status services. This is part of the modernization of public services, simplifying administrative procedures, and improving services for citizens.
