Airlink, a South African airline, has launched a direct flight between Cape Town, located in the Western Cape province of South Africa, and Mauritius. The inaugural flight took place on Friday, October 2, 2026. This new route marks the airline's first connection to the island nation. The flights will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, using an Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

The new route offers travelers from the Western Cape and surrounding regions a direct link to Mauritius, eliminating the need to transit through Johannesburg. According to Airlink's CEO, De Villiers Engelbrecht, the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft enables the airline to easily connect Cape Town to Mauritius, strengthening ties between these two key tourist and economic markets.

The flight schedule has been designed to maximize vacation time and optimize business travel, avoiding early morning or late-night departures and arrivals. The Embraer E195-E2 aircraft has 124 seats, including 12 in business class. Airlink highlights the staggered seating configuration, which provides more personal space. In economy class, seats are arranged in rows of two on either side of the aisle, with no central seat.

Airlink offers complimentary meals, power outlets, and spacious luggage compartments on board. The airline also provides a 15 kg baggage allowance for sports equipment, in addition to the checked baggage allowance, which ranges from 20 to 30 kg depending on the fare. Passengers can book their flights on flyairlink.com, through the FlyAirlink app, or at a travel agency.

The flight schedule is as follows: Vol 4Z 350 departs Cape Town at 10:05 and arrives in Mauritius at 17:15, while Vol 4Z 351 departs Mauritius at 18:15 and arrives in Cape Town at 22:35. This new route is expected to boost tourism and economic ties between South Africa and Mauritius.

The introduction of this direct flight is a significant addition to Airlink's network, offering passengers more travel options and convenience. The airline aims to provide a seamless travel experience, with a focus on comfort and customer satisfaction. With its modern fleet and expanding route network, Airlink is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for air travel in the region.

As the airline continues to grow and expand its operations, it is likely to play an increasingly important role in connecting people and businesses across Africa. The direct flight between Cape Town and Mauritius is a testament to Airlink's commitment to providing innovative and convenient travel solutions.
