Algerian national carrier Air Algérie is set to expand its African network with the launch of three new routes. The airline will introduce flights from Algiers to Conakry, Brazzaville, and a combined route to Lagos and Abuja, starting October 25. The Algiers-Conakry route will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with a departure time of 19:35 from Algiers and arrival at 23:50. The Algiers-Brazzaville route will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with a departure time of 19:00 from Algiers and arrival at 01:10 the next day. The combined Lagos-Abuja route will operate on Mondays and Thursdays.
Air Algérie will operate the Conakry and Brazzaville routes using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, while the Lagos-Abuja route will be operated using Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The airline has already opened bookings for these new routes on its website and in its agencies. However, no official tariffs have been announced for these routes.
The new African routes are part of Air Algérie's broader strategy to expand its network on the continent. The airline has recently launched routes to Libreville, Gabon, and Luanda, Angola, and has announced plans to launch routes to Accra, Ghana, and Maputo, Mozambique. The airline's CEO, Hamza Benhamouda, has stated that the goal is to facilitate travel between African capitals and offer connections to Europe.
In addition to its African expansion, Air Algérie has also been increasing its presence in other regions. The airline launched a direct route from Algiers to Berlin on September 14, 2026, and will launch a route to Shanghai on October 26, 2026, with three weekly frequencies. The airline has also announced plans to launch routes to Kuwait and Delhi, although no dates have been confirmed.
Travelers planning to book flights on these new routes should be aware of the entry requirements for each country, including visa requirements and health measures. The Nigerian government has introduced an electronic visa system, and travelers to Nigeria and Guinea are required to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate.
The expansion of Air Algérie's network is expected to boost economic exchanges between Algeria and other African countries, as well as provide more travel options for Algerian citizens and international travelers.
