On September 24, 2026, Africa Global Logistics (AGL) through its subsidiary SITARAIL, launched a project to construct a borehole and develop a school garden in Borodougou, Burkina Faso. The ceremony was held in the presence of the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Promotion of National Languages (MENAPLN). The project aims to improve learning conditions for over 1,000 students at public primary schools A and B in Borodougou.
The schools in Borodougou A and B previously lacked access to a borehole, forcing some students to cross the national highway to fetch water. According to Sankara Moussa, Head of the North Exploitation Department at SITARAIL, the project demonstrates the company's commitment to supporting local communities. The borehole will be equipped with a solar pump and a 5,000-liter storage tank, along with six fountain taps.
In addition to the borehole, AGL and SITARAIL plan to develop a 1,000-square-meter school garden that meets MENAPLN standards for school farms. The garden will provide students with a dedicated space for practical learning and hands-on experience with agriculture. This initiative aligns with efforts to promote practical activities in schools and enhance students' understanding of agricultural concepts.
The Director of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education in Houet Province praised the initiative, noting that it addresses a pressing need in the schools. He committed to ensuring the preservation and proper maintenance of the new infrastructure on behalf of the educational institutions. The project aligns with national education priorities, particularly the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education (IPEC).
