Nigerian lawmaker Philip Agbese has stated that he will remain focused on delivering constituency projects despite political attacks and distractions ahead of the 2027 general elections. As the member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Agbese emphasized that his priority is to deliver tangible development rather than engage in political battles or seek personal recognition.

Agbese, who is also the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives and a Labour Party leader in Benue State, draws strength from his faith and believes that political attacks should not distract elected representatives from their responsibilities to the people. He said that the best advert for his projects comes from the people, not self-glorification, and that he deliberately refused to blow his own trumpet all these three years.

The lawmaker highlighted his achievements in the education sector, stating that seven schools had been constructed across the constituency as part of his commitment to improving access to quality education. These schools were constructed to international standards and fitted with tiles for the children. Agbese identified one of the projects as the first one-storey primary school in the federal constituency.

Beyond education, Agbese listed health facilities, market infrastructure, ICT training and youth empowerment, solar electrification, farm inputs and equipment, recreational and sports facilities, and the construction of a royal residence for a traditional ruler among his constituency interventions. He explained that some of his development interventions had faced criticism and opposition.

Agbese also mentioned that he rarely organises elaborate commissioning ceremonies for his projects, preferring to concentrate on delivering more projects rather than seeking publicity. He said that he is not the kind of person who loves to show off, especially when there is still more work to be done.

On his legislative contributions, Agbese said he had moved a significant number of motions and bills in the National Assembly, including the bill seeking to establish the College of Agriculture, Agila, which he said had been passed. He also highlighted his interventions on national issues, including his advocacy for equal national honours for the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Agbese said he would sustain the momentum in both constituency development and legislative activities, insisting that his commitment to the people of Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo remained unwavering. He added that the work continues with the same energy, whether it is constituency projects, motions, bills or standing up on issues of national importance.
