African businesses have been urged to prioritize workplace safety culture and adopt measures that protect employees, ensure business continuity, and address emerging risks across the continent. This call was made by Femi Da-Silva, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AfriSAFE. He emphasized that safety awareness needs to extend beyond corporate environments and translate into practical action that protects lives. Da-Silva made this statement in a release issued on Tuesday.

According to Da-Silva, safety conversations must result in tangible changes that impact individuals positively. He noted that while powerful conversations about safety can occur inside conference halls, the ultimate measure of success is the practical skills gained by individuals to save a colleague, family member, or stranger. This, he believes, will create a lasting impact that goes beyond the event itself.

As part of its social impact initiative, AfriSAFE 2026 will provide free practical first-aid and emergency-response training to at least 1,000 people in Ghana. This initiative is part of AfriSAFE's wider ambition to equip more than 10,000 people across selected African countries with critical life-saving skills. The training aims to empower individuals with the skills needed to respond to emergencies effectively.

Several organizations from Nigeria and West Africa have been shortlisted for this initiative, including Dangote Packaging Limited, Ardova Plc, UBA Group, and Lagos Free Zone Company, among others. There are also Pan-African and international organizations on the shortlist, such as Nestlé ESAR Region, Fujita Corporation, and Hormuud Telecom Somalia. These organizations will benefit from the training and expertise provided by AfriSAFE.

Major corporate institutions supporting the AfriSAFE 2026 initiative include Zambia Sugar, Seplat Energy, and Tropical Cable, among others. These institutions recognize the importance of workplace safety and are committed to supporting efforts that promote a safety culture. The event is scheduled to take place on November 5 and 6, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

The theme of AfriSAFE 2026 is "Safeguarding Lives. Securing the Future." This theme underscores the importance of prioritizing workplace safety and adopting measures that protect lives and ensure business continuity. By bringing together experts and organizations, AfriSAFE aims to create a safer and more secure environment for employees and communities across the continent.

The AfriSAFE 2026 event is expected to have a significant impact on workplace safety culture in Africa. With the support of major corporate institutions and the participation of organizations from across the continent, AfriSAFE is poised to make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and communities. The initiative will provide a platform for stakeholders to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices in workplace safety.
