The politico-military leadership of the Alliance Fleuve Congo/March 23 Movement (AFC/M23) convened a meeting on October 2nd in Goma, the provincial capital of North Kivu, to assess the epidemiological situation and take urgent measures to strengthen the response against the Ebola virus disease (EVD). The meeting was prompted by the detection of six cases of EVD in the province.

According to AFC/M23 authorities, four of the cases were detected in Alimbongo and two in Kayna, both located in North Kivu Province.
