The Laja Adeoye Campaign Organisation (LACO) has expressed disappointment over the exclusion of Lagos governorship candidate Laja Adeoye from a recent Gen Z town hall meeting. The meeting, which brought together some Lagos governorship candidates ahead of the 2027 election, was seen as an opportunity for Adeoye to present his policy proposals and respond to questions from young voters. According to Olusegun Taiwo, special adviser on Digital Media Communication, the exclusion of Adeoye denied Lagosians the chance to hear directly from a candidate with a clear alternative programme for the state.

The town hall meeting was expected to provide a platform for voters to hear and compare the programmes of candidates, particularly on issues affecting young people. Adeoye's Atunto Eko 1.0, also known as the RESET Lagos Agenda, covers a range of issues including housing, traffic, flooding, waste management, unemployment, education, security, electricity, healthcare, infrastructure, and the environment. The agenda proposes solutions such as affordable housing, improved public transportation, flood-control infrastructure, recycling, and waste-management reforms.

Taiwo highlighted that Adeoye's agenda also aims to expand economic opportunities for young people, support small and medium-scale businesses, and develop the creative and technology sectors. The LACO criticizes the organisers of the town hall meeting for excluding Adeoye, saying it was a missed opportunity for meaningful democratic engagement. Taiwo emphasizes that the people of Lagos deserve to know what every candidate is bringing to the table, particularly on issues affecting young people.

The RESET Lagos agenda is linked to the APM's wider national programme under its presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, which focuses on economic growth, job creation, human capital development, education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, technology, agriculture, and industrialisation. Taiwo urges young voters to assess the records, policies, and programmes of all candidates before the 2027 election. He also calls on organisers of future political town halls and debates to include all significant candidates and provide them with opportunities to respond to questions from voters.

Taiwo notes that political town halls should enable voters to hear and compare the programmes of candidates, particularly on issues affecting young people. He says that by excluding Adeoye, the organisers denied Lagosians the opportunity to hear directly from a candidate with a clear alternative programme for the state. The LACO emphasizes that Lagosians should not lose hope, as the RESET Lagos agenda aims to bring succour to the people and create a Lagos where government works for everyone, not just a privileged few.

The exclusion of Adeoye from the town hall meeting has been seen as a missed opportunity for the candidate to engage with young voters and present his policy proposals. The LACO continues to advocate for the inclusion of all significant candidates in future political town halls and debates. Taiwo emphasizes that the people of Lagos deserve to hear from all candidates, particularly on issues affecting young people.

The Lagos governorship election is scheduled for 2027, and candidates are expected to present their policy proposals and engage with voters in the coming months. The LACO remains committed to promoting Adeoye's RESET Lagos agenda and advocating for the inclusion of all significant candidates in future political town halls and debates.
