The Ada West District Assembly has completed a 10-seater toilet facility for the Ada Senior High Technical School (ASTECH) at Sege. This project is part of eight development initiatives under phase one of the assembly's development programme. The projects were primarily funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). The assembly's efforts aim to improve infrastructure in the district.

The total investment in the completed projects is approximately GH¢4.3 million, funded through the DACF from September 2025 to date. Mr Modjifa Tanihu J.J.F. Mills-Nkrumah, the Ada West District Chief Executive, mentioned that the assembly is also considering a request from ASTECH for a modern science laboratory. This would be facilitated through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

The new toilet facility addresses concerns over the poor condition of the school's previous toilet facility. Mr Thomas Raphael Vroom, the Headmaster of ASTECH, stated that the old facility had become unsafe. He noted that students were previously forced to support the structure with blocks and sticks whenever they used it. The school's management appealed to the assembly for assistance, which responded promptly.

Mr Vroom urged students to take proper care of the new facilities to ensure they serve the school for a long time. He particularly cautioned female students against disposing of used sanitary pads into the toilet. Such practices could lead to blockages and damage to the facility. The students have pledged to keep the facility clean and use it responsibly.

The Ada West District Assembly's efforts have been appreciated by the school's students. Miss Elikem Esi Vormawor, Head Prefect of ASTECH, and Miss Justine Esinam Semeha, a student, expressed gratitude to the assembly and the District Education Directorate for the facilities. The students acknowledged the positive impact of the new toilet facility on their learning environment.

Dr Stephen Arthur, the District Education Director, encouraged students to take advantage of available opportunities. He urged them not to be discouraged by the category of school they attended. Dr Arthur also cautioned students against using social media irresponsibly. He emphasized the importance of making positive use of these platforms.

The Ada West District Assembly's completion of the toilet facility and other development projects demonstrates its commitment to improving infrastructure in the district. The assembly's efforts aim to support the growth and development of institutions such as ASTECH. The projects are expected to have a positive impact on the community.
