The national leadership of Action Alliance has rejected an alleged plot to relocate the headquarters of the Ideato Federal Constituency from Urualla in Ideato North Local Government Area to Dikenafai in Ideato South Local Government Area in Imo State. This decision was made public by Barrister Kenneth Udeze, the Action Alliance National Chairman.
According to Udeze, the location of the seat of the headquarters of the federal constituency at Urualla is historic and lawful. He stressed that the alleged plan to move it to another location is fraudulent and a plot to rig the 2027 general elections. Udeze attributed the alleged plot to those he regarded as “political merchants and their collaborators in Owerri and Abuja”.
Udeze maintained that the Action Alliance condemns in its entirety this alleged plot, describing it as evil, provocative, and unacceptable. He noted that information available to them from concerned Ideato stakeholders shows that a forged document purporting to be a ‘security report’ and consent letter was secretly packaged and smuggled to INEC headquarters in Abuja.
The forged document, according to Udeze, was signed by some persons parading themselves as traditional rulers, youth leaders, and politicians. The goal was to mislead the Commission that Urualla is no longer safe and that Ideato people have agreed to move their headquarters to Dikenafai. Udeze described this as a big lie, forgery, and an insult to Ideato nation.
Udeze further stated that Urualla has always been and remains peaceful, with no recorded security breach to warrant removal as headquarters. He also noted that there is no security report anywhere by the Police, DSS, or Army declaring Urualla unsafe. According to him, Ideato people were never consulted, and no Council of Ndi-Eze in Ideato North or South, no Town Union Presidents-General, youth body, clergy, or political party in Ideato authorised anybody to write INEC on behalf of Ideato Nation.
Udeze alleged that those who signed the letter did so on their own for selfish reasons and an alleged N20 million bribe. Petitions against the alleged relocation plot by Ideato people had been forwarded to the INEC Chairman, Abuja; the Inspector General of Police; all traditional rulers, Ideato North and South; and Save Ideato Now Movement.
The Action Alliance has vowed to resist the alleged plot, with strong opposition from the people of Ideato. The party is working to ensure that the headquarters remains in Urualla, maintaining that any attempt to relocate it would undermine the democratic process and the rights of the Ideato people.
