The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has launched a sensitisation campaign in Kano state to educate residents on the Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO). The campaign aims to help prospective investors understand the share purchase process and avoid misinformation. The event, held in Kano, brought together residents and prospective investors seeking to participate in the IPO. According to the ACF, the campaign is crucial in ensuring that northern Nigerians are well-informed about the investment opportunity.

Some prospective investors had expressed concerns about the IPO, citing claims on social media that the refinery was yet to make profits and that the offer could lead to losses. However, Dr. Goni Umar Farouk, President of the ACF Kano State chapter, dismissed these claims as unfounded. He cited the refinery's financial records, which show significant revenue and profit. Farouk's assertions aimed to alleviate concerns and encourage informed investment decisions.

Dr. Farouk provided details on the refinery's financial performance, stating that it generated $1.82 billion in the first six months of the year. He also noted that the refinery's revenue rose from N9.38 trillion in 2024 to N18.74 trillion in 2025. Additionally, the refinery recorded N2.5 trillion in profit after tax during the half-year period. These figures demonstrate the refinery's robust financial standing.

The ACF's intervention seeks to ensure that northern Nigerians have access to accurate information about the IPO. This will enable them to make informed investment decisions based on available financial data rather than online rumours. The forum emphasised the importance of using legitimate channels when seeking to participate in the IPO. By doing so, prospective investors can avoid potential pitfalls.

The sensitisation drive has garnered positive responses from residents who have participated in the programme. Sa'a Umar, one of the investors, initially had reservations but decided to participate after receiving information about the process. She encouraged others to take advantage of the opportunity, citing the importance of investment in personal and community development.

Another investor, Iliya Ado, appreciated the ACF's initiative, stating that it addressed his earlier concerns about participating in the offer. He commended the forum's efforts in providing a platform for people to access information and make informed decisions. The programme has helped build confidence in the IPO and encouraged more residents to consider investing.

The Dangote Refinery IPO has generated significant interest, with the ACF's campaign contributing to the growing enthusiasm. The IPO presents an opportunity for Nigerians to participate directly in the ownership of one of the country's major industrial assets. The ACF's education campaign will continue to empower residents with knowledge, enabling them to make informed investment decisions.
