The Rotaract Club of Lugbe Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Abuja, has made a significant donation to pupils of the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, FHA. The club provided 50 school uniforms, 50 pairs of sandals, and 50 pairs of socks, as well as school bags, dictionaries, and writing materials. This initiative was part of the club's activities to promote education and community development. The items were distributed based on an assessment of the pupils' needs to ensure maximum beneficiaries.
According to Terna Abraham, President of the Rotaract Club of Lugbe FHA, the intervention aimed to address some challenges faced by pupils and encourage them to remain committed to their education. The club selected the school because it was located within their adopted community. Abraham emphasized that providing basic school necessities could make a significant difference to children from families facing financial difficulties. He noted that the donation would send a positive message to the pupils.
The project chair of the Rotaract Club for the 2026/2027 Rotary year, Goodness Biniolise, highlighted the importance of education in determining a child's future. She stated that the club wanted the project to have a lasting impact on the pupils rather than being a one-off activity. The club organized a quiz competition to encourage pupils to appreciate the value of hard work and learning. Biniolise urged the participating pupils to remain committed to their studies.
A teacher at the school, Salako Iyabode, commended the club for the intervention but appealed to the government and private organizations to help address the school's infrastructure and learning-material needs. Iyabode mentioned that some sections of the school's roof were in poor condition, while some classroom boards were inadequate for effective teaching and learning. She emphasized that improved facilities would provide a more conducive learning environment.
