Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has given the green light for the construction of the J4-Gao Road in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area. This move aims to open up the area and provide essential infrastructure to support emerging investments. The governor made this announcement at an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders' engagement meeting in Ibiade, the headquarters of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.

The J4-Gao Road construction is part of a broader strategy to develop Ogun Waterside, an area that has been neglected by previous administrations. Governor Abiodun emphasized the strategic importance of Ogun Waterside to the state's economic and industrial landscape. The project is expected to facilitate access to the area and support major investments planned for the axis.

In addition to the J4-Gao Road, the Federal Government has approved a four-kilometre bridge connecting Ogun Waterside to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. This infrastructure intervention will further enhance access to the area and support the development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port and the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project. These projects are expected to transform the economic profile of Ogun Waterside and strengthen the state's position in the maritime, energy, and logistics sectors.

Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the development of the Deep Sea Port and other strategic projects in the area. He announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Deep Sea Port is scheduled for November, with construction expected to commence before the end of the year and be completed by 2030. The governor attributed the development of the port to his administration's efforts to create an enabling environment for large-scale investments.

The Deep Sea Port and associated investments are expected to create significant employment and business opportunities, particularly for young people and residents of Ogun Waterside. Governor Abiodun urged youths in the area to acquire the necessary skills and competencies to take advantage of the opportunities that will emerge from these projects. He emphasized that these projects will change the economic fortunes of Ogun Waterside.

The strategic investments in Ogun Waterside are expected to generate over 50,000 direct employment opportunities, with extensive opportunities across various sectors, including logistics, transportation, construction, hospitality, services, manufacturing, and others. The development of the Deep Sea Port will also complement Ogun's growing industrial base and strategic location within the Lagos-Ogun economic corridor.

Governor Abiodun described Ogun Waterside as strategically important to the state, with 126 polling units and about 62,000 registered voters. He urged residents and APC members to remain united and sustain their support for the party, emphasizing that continued political stability and support would help consolidate the gains recorded by the APC-led administrations.
