Senator Orji Uzor Kalu's ongoing ward-to-ward consultation and engagement tour across Abia North Senatorial District has attracted large crowds, with residents defying heavy rainfall to receive him. On Saturday, Kalu visited three wards in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, where electorates, residents, and community leaders turned out in large numbers to interact with him and express support for his return to the Senate in 2027.
The visits to ABSU Umuanyi Ward 10, Achara-Mbaugwu Ward 7, and Mbaugwu Ward 19 saw members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Reality Organisation, OUK Movement, and other solidarity groups join residents and community leaders in expressing support for Kalu's continued representation of Abia North in the Senate. Community members used the interaction to commend Kalu for projects and empowerment initiatives they said had positively impacted their communities since his election to the Senate in 2019.
Despite the heavy downpour, the people remained at the venues, and community members raised a major issue - the need for additional accessible roads and schools across the communities. The requests came alongside praise for infrastructure projects and human-capital interventions attributed to Kalu since assuming office. Hon Damian Igbokwe commended Kalu for his visible impact on the community since 2019 and appealed for more projects.
Igbokwe stated that he was standing at the event not because of any political affiliation but because the people trust Kalu and believe he will not lead them astray. He thanked Kalu for his works, saying they speak for themselves, and asked for more to be done. Kalu's engagements with the community provided an opportunity for him to listen directly to residents and community leaders on their needs and identify areas requiring further intervention.
Responding to the community's concerns, Kalu thanked the people for turning out despite the rainfall, stressing that the exercise was more than a campaign tour. Kalu said he has heard all the areas of concern and will add to what must be done.
