Students from Brookhurst International School visited Royal Media Services, the parent company of Citizen TV Kenya, on October 28, for a guided tour of the broadcaster's studios in Nairobi. The visit was an immersive industry experience designed to bridge classroom theory with real-world media practice. Among those who attended was Stephanie Mumbua, popularly known as Mumbus, the daughter of Kenyan filmmaker Abel Mutua and producer Judy Nyawira.

Mumbus participated in the visit in her capacity as student co-president for the 2026/2027 academic year, a leadership position she was elected to in July 2026. Her election to the role drew widespread attention online after videos of her speech during the leadership announcement circulated widely, with many viewers praising her fluency in English and her public speaking ability. Mumbus shares the co-president position with fellow student Alpha Busara.

During the visit, the students received an insider view of live broadcasting and studio production, interacting directly with senior media professionals. Renowned news anchor Rashid Abdalla was among those who hosted the group and shared insights from his career in television journalism. The visit provided the students with a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts and gain a deeper understanding of the media industry.

Brookhurst International School described the occasion as an immersive industry experience designed to bridge classroom theory with real-world media practice. The school wrote in a Facebook post announcing the visit, "We hope to experience inspired the next generation of storytellers and media leaders." The visit was a significant event for the students, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.

Mumbus, who transitioned to the Cambridge International curriculum in January 2024 after completing her primary education under Kenya's 8-4-4 system, attends Brookhurst's Kiserian campus as a boarding student. She entered her final year at the institution in September 2026. Her academic achievements and leadership role have made her parents proud, with Abel Mutua previously speaking about the financial commitment involved in sending his daughter to an international school.

The annual tuition fee for Mumbus at Brookhurst International School is approximately KSh 1.5 million. Despite the significant investment, Abel Mutua has described it as worthwhile given her academic and leadership achievements. He has also credited his wife for helping raise Mumbus and contributing to her success. Mumbus's strong grades and leadership role have made Abel Mutua proud.

The visit drew reactions from Kenyans on social media, many of whom expressed admiration for Mumbus and the school's initiative. Social media users praised Mumbus's leadership skills and fluency in English, with many commenting on her potential for future success. The event highlighted the importance of providing students with practical industry experiences to inspire and shape their future careers.
