Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has held meetings with his Iranian, Omani, and Turkish counterparts in New York to discuss efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and revive diplomatic talks. They also discussed Oman's mediation efforts to reduce tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
In his meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Abdelatty discussed the situation in Gaza, Sudan, and Libya. The two ministers stressed the importance of implementing the provisions of the US peace plan and ensuring the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's rejection of any plans to displace Palestinians and condemned settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
The meetings also touched on the importance of preserving the sovereignty and stability of regional countries. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in preserving its sovereignty and stability. The ministers also exchanged views on the Iranian crisis and rejected any threat to the security of the Gulf states or the use of straits and maritime passages as tools of pressure.
