Abanga Yakubu Fusani, a hopeful in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser race, has expressed confidence in winning the upcoming internal election with over 80% of the votes. His confidence stems from his campaign activities and feedback from the ground, indicating strong support among delegates. Fusani made these remarks in an interview on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen.
Fusani's optimism about his chances of victory is higher this time compared to his previous attempts at the position. He stated that his campaign approach reflects the kind of leadership and resource mobilisation he intends to pursue if elected National Youth Organiser. Fusani disclosed that over 40 businesspeople have expressed willingness to support his plans to empower young people in the party.
The NPP National Youth Organiser hopeful stressed that his experience as a businessman, coupled with his engagement with the business community, would help him mobilise resources to implement his proposed programmes. However, he acknowledged that he cannot finance the initiatives alone, stressing the need to demonstrate commitment, sacrifice, and leadership to attract support.
Fusani outlined an ambitious electoral target for the NPP, aiming to help mobilise four million votes from young people for the party's flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2028 general election. He stated that the party's youth wing has developed strategies to achieve that objective but stressed that adequate funding would be necessary to translate the plans into action.
According to Fusani, a strong endorsement from delegates would also help strengthen his public appeal. He said, "The target is not to win less than 80%. The youth want to send a signal that they accept me, so that Ghanaians will also accept me." This, he believes, will demonstrate the level of support he enjoys among the party's youth.
Fusani's campaign has garnered significant attention, with many businesspeople expressing willingness to contribute towards youth empowerment initiatives. He maintained that his commitment to the party and willingness to make sacrifices would help him secure the mandate and deliver on his promises to the youth.
