In a unique coincidence, twin brothers Fuseini Yakubu Abanga and Alhassan Yakubu Abanga hold top positions in Ghana's two dominant political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) respectively. Their remarkable situation has sparked curiosity about their interactions and relationships given their differing political affiliations. Despite belonging to opposing political camps, the brothers have managed to maintain a cordial and harmonious relationship.

Fuseini Yakubu Abanga, popularly known as NPP Abanga, recently emerged victorious as the National Youth Organiser in the NPP national executive polls held in Kumasi. Born in Boinsu, Enchi, in the newly created Western North Region, Abanga was raised by peasant farmers. His upbringing and life experiences have been diverse, spanning across various regions and languages in Ghana, including the Western, Bono, Central, Upper East, and Greater Accra regions.

Abanga's educational background began at the Boinsu King of Kings Preparatory and Junior High School in the Ashanti Region. He later gained admission to the University of Ghana, where he studied Political Science and Archaeology. It was during his time at the university that Abanga became involved in politics and carved out a niche for himself. As a student, he was the Representative of Jubilee Hall on campus and successfully contested for the position of TESCON Organiser.

Abanga's journey in politics took a significant turn when he met with the then NPP National Organiser, John Boadu, in 2015. Boadu took Abanga under his wing, training him to become the effective mobiliser he is today. Abanga is credited with participating in and organising major demonstrations across the country. His skills as a mobiliser have been instrumental in the NPP's activities and campaigns.

On the other hand, Alhassan Yakubu Abanga, the twin brother of Fuseini, is a rising star in the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He currently serves as the youngest National Vice Chairman of the party. Alhassan is described as a silent operator, whose strategic operations are believed to have contributed significantly to the NDC's victory in the 2024 polls.

The brothers' ability to maintain a positive relationship despite their differing political affiliations is noteworthy. According to reports, their interactions are often filled with light debates and mirth, showcasing a deep-seated bond that transcends their political differences. This unique situation highlights the complexities of Ghanaian politics, where personal relationships can coexist with political rivalries.

As they continue to play important roles in Ghana's political landscape, their relationship will likely remain a subject of interest.
