The 6th edition of the Sustainable Development Forum (FDD6) is currently underway in Mali, taking place from October 6-7, 2026, at the National Council of the Malian Patronat (CNPM). This event is being held under the theme "Territorial communities and sustainability: local solutions for a prosperous and inclusive future." The forum brings together key players in sustainable development, the private sector, public institutions, and other major stakeholders.

The opening ceremony of the FDD6 was presided over by Moussa Diarra, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment, Sanitation, and Sustainable Development. In his address, he emphasized the importance of finding local solutions to address the challenges of climate change, which is having a significant impact on Mali, with recurring droughts, diminishing resources, and disrupted agricultural cycles.

The forum aims to provide a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, reflect on sustainable development, and build collective action for a greener, more prosperous, and inclusive future. According to Berthé Minian Bengaly, Director General of the International Center for Consulting and Training (CICF), the choice of theme for this edition focuses on local communities, which have been equipped with the necessary tools for commune management.

The representative of the CNPM also supported the relevance of the theme, highlighting its resonance with the local economy and social inclusion. He emphasized that local community actors play a crucial role in transitioning to sustainable development models, thanks to their mobilization of communities, experience, and knowledge of the terrain.

The CNPM, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Sanitation, and Sustainable Development, plans to support this dynamic by establishing partnerships between the private sector, local communities, and stakeholders. Their vision is based on three priority axes: awareness-raising, training, innovation, and encouragement.

During the two-day event, six panel discussions, a talk show, and exchanges will explore the theme from all angles. The forum's particularity lies in its preparation, focused on the implementation of sustainable development in territories, with a monitoring system. A general report and recommendations are expected at the end of the forum.

The Sustainable Development Forum has become a major event in Mali, having successfully held five previous editions. The event has established itself as a privileged framework for reflection, experience sharing, and collective action construction for a more sustainable future.
