The honored personnel were recognized for their engagement, dedication, and high sense of patriotism. The Minister of War and Patriotic Defense, General Célestin Simporé, conveyed a message of appreciation to the recipients and all national armed forces personnel. He expressed the nation's gratitude for their service, stating that their commitment honors the nation's flag. The Minister emphasized that defending the nation should not be solely the responsibility of those in uniform.

General Simporé encouraged all citizens to contribute to collective security according to their abilities and skills. He noted that serving the nation does not necessarily mean carrying arms permanently but being prepared to make a contribution when circumstances require it. The Minister also praised the public's enthusiasm for the military reserve, with 86,000 people enrolled so far, exceeding the target of 100,000 by year's end.

The 66th anniversary celebration was held under the theme "national armed forces and military reserve for a sovereign defense of the nation." This initiative seeks to strengthen the operational capabilities of the national armed forces.

The military reserve represents a vision of a nation that does not solely rely on professional soldiers for security but organizes and prepares its citizens to defend the nation. General Simporé expressed his gratitude to President Ibrahim Traoré for his constant engagement with the national armed forces and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Governor of the Guiriko region, Mariama Konaté, and military authorities visited wounded soldiers in operation and toured the military hospital at the Ouezzin Coulibaly military camp in Bobo-Dioulasso.
