Algerian authorities have met with a delegation of 22 Austrian companies, led by Austrian Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism Wolfgang Hatzmansdorfer, to explore opportunities for investment and partnership in various sectors. The meeting took place during the Algerian-Austrian Business Forum in the capital city, Algiers. The Austrian companies are seeking to expand their presence in the Algerian market, particularly in renewable energy, hydrogen, clean technologies, and manufacturing.

Minister Hatzmansdorfer emphasized that Austrian companies possess advanced technological solutions that align with Algeria's development priorities. He noted that the geographical proximity between Algeria and Europe presents a competitive advantage for building strong economic ties. The Austrian delegation expressed interest in collaborating with Algerian companies in various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and industry.

Algerian officials, including Murad El-Wadh, head of the Energy Committee at the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, encouraged Austrian companies to invest in the country's industrial sector, particularly in mining, food processing, and hydrogen projects. El-Wadh emphasized the need for Austrian companies to move beyond simple commercial exports and engage in direct industrial investment in Algeria.

The Algerian government has been working to improve the business climate and provide incentives for foreign investment. Mahfouz Akba, representative of the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion (AAPI), presented the ongoing reforms aimed at attracting foreign capital. Akba highlighted the government's efforts to provide guarantees and support for foreign investors.

Austrian companies are already active in Algeria, with around 50 firms operating in the country through local partnerships. Lisa Kronerreif, representative of the Austrian Trade Section, noted that infrastructure development and economic diversification projects offer opportunities for increased cooperation between Algerian and Austrian companies.

The Algerian-Austrian Business Forum resulted in the signing of a letter of intent between Algerian company Industriesoft and Austrian company Palfinger EMEA GmbH. The agreement aims to develop and distribute industrial lifting and handling solutions in Algeria. The forum provided a platform for Algerian and Austrian companies to explore opportunities for cooperation and investment.
