Vice-presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement, Lawal Daura, has cautioned individuals planning to manipulate the 2027 general elections, stating that such attempts would be resisted. Daura, a former Director-General of the Department of State Services, made this statement during the inauguration of the National Campaign Management Committee of the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the law and the Electoral Act.

Daura highlighted that political parties should focus on convincing Nigerians through their programmes and candidates rather than seeking shortcuts to victory. He stressed that the struggle for a free and fair election is real, and that his party would not let manipulators escape with their actions. According to Daura, anyone attempting to rig the election has a surprise coming.

The number of registered voters in Nigeria has surpassed 100 million, according to Daura. He said the APM is working to secure the support of a significant proportion of the electorate. Daura emphasized that it is a herculean task, but the party is aiming to get nothing less than two-thirds of the 103 million registered voters. This, he believes, will enable them to achieve their goal of resetting Nigeria.

The APM's objective is to "reset" Nigeria, which Daura believes requires people with quality, focus, and determination. He made this statement during the inauguration of the National Campaign Management Committee. The party's goal is to deliver the Makinde-Daura ticket and form the government in 2027.

Felix Hayat, Director-General of the Campaign Council, urged young Nigerians to look beyond religion, ethnicity, and regional considerations when making political choices. He emphasized that they have to think about their future and protect it, as nobody will do it for them. Hayat's statement is in line with the party's efforts to promote a fair and transparent electoral process.

APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, urged members of the campaign organisation to work closely with the party's structures ahead of the election. He warned that disagreements could arise within the campaign organisation and stressed that its ability to manage internal differences would determine its strength. Dantalle told members of the newly inaugurated committee to regard their appointments as the beginning of the assignment rather than an achievement.

The Makinde-Daura team has taken their 'Reset Nigeria' message across the country, with the aim of securing the support of Nigerians. The party's efforts are focused on promoting a free and fair electoral process, and convincing Nigerians through their programmes and candidates. The warning by Daura against electoral manipulation is a significant development in the run-up to the 2027 general elections.
