The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Shehu Usman Bawa, has expressed confidence that the party will reclaim its mandate in the state in the 2027 governorship election. Bawa, popularly known as ABG, made this statement during an interview with journalists at his campaign office in Kaduna. He discussed his plans for the state and the PDP's preparations for the 2027 election, highlighting the party's commitment to winning the election.
Bawa promised an inclusive government anchored on a bottom-to-top approach to development, prioritizing issues affecting residents and consulting communities before deciding on projects to be executed in their areas. This approach, he believes, will ensure that public funds are deployed to projects that directly address the priorities identified by residents. According to Bawa, this will be a departure from the current system, where projects are often imposed on communities without their input.

On security, Bawa said his administration will adopt a different strategy to tackling insecurity, with the aim of enabling residents to farm, travel and conduct their businesses without fear of kidnapping or attacks. He envisions a Kaduna where residents can go to their farms, markets, and harvest their crops without fear of being kidnapped. Bawa believes that the government should not wait until attacks occur before taking action, but should pursue criminals to their hideouts.
Bawa's campaign is already consulting security experts on the issue of insecurity, and he is considering combining kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to tackling the problem. However, he emphasized that the PDP campaign will focus on reaching voters through direct engagement rather than relying solely on rallies and billboards. This approach, he believes, will allow the party to connect with voters and address their concerns.
