The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed confidence in Dr. Kadri Hamzat's capacity to deliver on the Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E agenda. The statement was released after the formal presentation of Hamzat's manifesto, tagged Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E (Ileri Eko), which was held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Iganmu, Lagos.
The Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E manifesto is an acronym for People First, Renewal, Opportunity, Machinery of Government, Inclusion, Security and Resilience, and Everyday Dignity. It outlines priorities across key sectors, including transportation, environmental resilience, flood and waste management, housing, security, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. The Speaker described the manifesto as a thoughtful and practical blueprint reflecting a robust understanding of Lagos State's opportunities and challenges.
Obasa commended the intellectual rigour and clear vision behind the formulation of the manifesto, saying Hamzat's educational background, experience in private and public service, and broad exposure had prepared him for effective leadership. He noted that Hamzat's accretion of insight, experience, education, and exposure made him a suitable candidate to sustain and build upon the developmental trajectory of Lagos State.
The Speaker expressed confidence that Hamzat would build on the foundations already laid in the state and deliver on the commitments contained in the manifesto. He highlighted that the agenda includes transportation, environmental resilience, flood and waste management, housing, security, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities, among others. Additionally, it emphasises continuity, accountability, measurable outcomes, and people-centred governance.
Obasa said Lagosians should expect a new governance experience, noting that the manifesto contained timelines against which Hamzat's performance could be assessed. He said the document would provide a framework for accountability and enable residents to measure the implementation of the candidate's policy commitments. This, he believes, will ensure that Hamzat's administration is transparent and responsive to the needs of the people.
