Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso, the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, has urged Nigerians to be cautious when voting for candidates. He emphasized that democracy would have a significant impact if candidates with good records are given the mandate to lead. Anyaso made this statement while presenting his manifesto to stakeholders, LP stalwarts, and people of Bende Federal Constituency at Ozuakoli Civic Centre.
Anyaso described himself as a philanthropist and lover of the people, highlighting that he has lived a life worthy of emulation before venturing into partisan politics. He used the forum to sign a pact with the people of Bende LGA, which he termed the “Bende Prosperity Contract”. This document outlines his commitments to the people of Bende if elected to represent them in the House of Representatives in 2027.
The Labour Party candidate emphasized that the people of Bende should demand transparency, accountability, and measurable results from those seeking to represent them. He criticized the practice of making empty promises and adopting a kangaroo style of representation. Anyaso urged the people to move beyond this and seek leaders who can deliver tangible results.
Anyaso questioned the practice of taking credit for projects executed with public funds. He argued that projects funded by taxpayers belong to the people and should not be presented as personal gifts by political office holders. He cited this as an example of deceit, rather than leadership. Anyaso promised to attract quality federal interventions to Bende, including roads, healthcare, education, and youth development.
As a federal lawmaker, Anyaso assured the people that his presence at the Federal House would be of immense benefit to them. He emphasized that the projects he would attract would not be for his benefit or seen as personal favours. Anyaso stated that his task in Abuja is to attract quality projects that would benefit the people of Bende.
Anyaso announced that he would serve for only two terms if elected, in line with the political understanding between the Umunna and Ikwuisii blocs that make up the constituency. He pledged to support an Ikwuisii candidate at the appropriate time, as he is from the Umunna section. Anyaso stressed the need to encourage younger politicians to participate in leadership and create opportunities for younger generations.
The Labour Party candidate warned against electoral violence and urged young people not to allow themselves to be used as instruments of destruction during the election. He emphasized that no election is worth one's life and no politician's ambition is worth destroying one's future. The event was attended by the State Chairman of LP, Chief Peter Azubuike, Prof. Ijeoma Iheukwumere, and other notable figures.
