Seyi Makinde, the Presidential Candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), has stated that he will reset Nigeria if given the mandate in the 2027 general election. He made this statement during a North Central Town Hall meeting held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital. Makinde, who is also the governor of Oyo State, decried the suffering of Nigerians under the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Makinde lamented that the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration has destabilized the country with its policies, increasing hardship and suffering among citizens. He noted that the 2027 presidential election will not be determined by the amount of money a candidate can spend to gain the support of the electorate, but rather by the candidate's relationship with the people.
The APM Presidential Candidate emphasized that Nigeria can only achieve sustainable development through issue-based politics and a leadership committed to constitutional democracy. He pledged to overhaul the education sector by addressing the challenge of out-of-school children through reliable data and targeted interventions.
Makinde urged citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and support what he described as a movement to rebuild the country. He promised to reform Nigeria's socio-political system if elected into office in 2027. The APM Presidential Candidate outlined his agenda, which includes giving Nigeria a new security architecture, resetting the economy using data, science, and logic, and resetting the socio-political environment in four years.
The National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, described the persistent security challenges in the country as worrisome. He noted that if Makinde is elected in 2027, issues like kidnapping and banditry will be a thing of the past. Dantalle appealed to the electorate in Nasarawa and other states in the North Central region to support Makinde's presidential bid to reset Nigeria and put the country on the right path.
The Nasarawa State Governorship Candidate of the APM, Senator Ogoshi Onawo, pledged to mobilize support for Makinde to ensure his landslide victory in the 2027 presidential election. Onawo stated that the next election will not be about party affiliation but about the growth of Nigeria.
The town hall meeting was attended by a mammoth crowd, with various stakeholders showing support for Makinde's presidential bid. The APM Presidential Candidate's message resonated with the attendees, who expressed their desire for change and a better Nigeria.
