Senator Williams Eteng, Deputy Director General, South South, of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), has pledged to mobilise the South South region in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 presidential re-election bid. Eteng made this pledge after being appointed to the position, describing it as a call to greater service. He expressed gratitude to the TSG leadership for the confidence reposed in him.
Eteng, who represents Cross River Central Senatorial District, plans to deploy his leadership experience and grassroots networks to strengthen the group's presence across the six states of the South South region. He aims to highlight the projects and policies of the Tinubu administration in the region, including the establishment of the South South Development Commission and the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway.
According to Eteng, the projects undertaken by President Tinubu are aimed at addressing infrastructure deficits, improving social amenities, boosting commerce, and creating opportunities for residents. He noted that these initiatives are verifiable and have had a positive impact on the region. Eteng's appointment was made in recognition of his leadership experience, professional accomplishments, and commitment to national development.
The appointment letter, dated September 19, was signed by the Convener and Founder of the TSG, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke. Faleke expressed confidence in Eteng's contribution to the growth and success of the group, stating that he would support the coordination and mobilisation of TSG activities across the South South region.
Eteng plans to engage political leaders, stakeholders, community groups, and other relevant actors across the region to deepen coordination and participation in support of Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. He pledged to approach the assignment with humility, diligence, and commitment, focusing on building a strong and coordinated mobilisation structure across the South South.
The South South region is a significant revenue base for the country, and Eteng believes that campaigning for President Tinubu in the region will not be an Herculean task. He attributed this to the array of signature projects undertaken by the President since assuming office, which have had a positive impact on the region.
Eteng's mobilisation efforts are expected to play a crucial role in promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda and advancing the objectives of the TSG. With his experience and networks, he is well-positioned to coordinate and mobilise support for President Tinubu's re-election bid in the South South region.
