Algeria's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is participating in the 14th edition of the Energy and Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition for Africa and the Mediterranean Basin, "Naback 2026", with 15 innovative projects in the energy sector. These projects were developed by 11 university and research institutions, according to a statement by Hicham Cherfi, Deputy Director of Innovation and Technology Monitoring at the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development.

The projects aim to present innovative solutions developed by university institutions and research centers in various fields related to energy, such as solar energy production, oil extraction, and reducing carbon emissions in ammonia production. Most of the participating institutions are subsidiary economic institutions under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which serve as economic and commercial interfaces to strengthen the link between universities and their economic and social environment.

The Ministry's participation in "Naback 2026" reflects its commitment to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the energy sector. The Deputy Director of Innovation and Technology Monitoring highlighted that the sector has 465 subsidiary economic institutions that were established to valorize the research results of professors, researchers, and students. These institutions have witnessed significant development in recent years, contributing to the growth of the national economy.

Several university institutions and research centers from different regions of Algeria are participating in "Naback 2026", including universities in Constantine, Mila, and Bechar, as well as the Higher School of Electrical Engineering in Oran and the National Polytechnic Schools in Constantine and Algiers. These institutions will showcase their innovative projects and solutions in the energy sector, including renewable energy and sustainable technologies.

On the sidelines of the conference, several subsidiary institutions under the universities and research centers held working sessions with institutions affiliated with the Sonatrach group and other economic institutions to explore partnership opportunities and valorize technological solutions and innovations related to energy and renewable energies. These sessions aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between academia and industry.
