The 12th edition of the annual review of reforms, policies, programs, and community projects of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) is scheduled to take place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The event, which will run from November 4-6, 2026, at the Azalaï hotel, will bring together stakeholders to evaluate the progress of community projects and reforms. A total of 149 regulatory texts will be assessed during the technical phase of the review.

The review is a crucial component of UEMOA's efforts to deepen regional integration, as instituted by an Additional Act of the Conference of Heads of State and Government on October 24, 2013. The exercise aims to ensure the effective implementation of community projects and reforms, which are vital for the economic and social development of member states. The 11th edition, held in 2025, recorded an average implementation rate of 88.70% for reforms.

The 12th edition of the review will also assess one community project, with a total budget of over 2.4 billion FCFA. The evaluation of these projects and reforms will enable UEMOA to identify areas of progress and challenges, and to make informed decisions to enhance the integration process. The review is expected to contribute to the achievement of UEMOA's objectives, including the creation of a common market and the promotion of economic growth.

The annual review is a collaborative effort between UEMOA and its member states, involving various stakeholders, including government officials, experts, and civil society organizations. The exercise is designed to promote transparency, accountability, and ownership of community projects and reforms. By engaging with various stakeholders, UEMOA aims to ensure that its initiatives are responsive to the needs of member states and their populations.

The review will also provide an opportunity for UEMOA to engage with its member states on the implementation of community policies and programs. The Union has made significant progress in promoting regional integration, including the establishment of a common market, the implementation of a single external tariff, and the development of infrastructure. The review will help to identify areas where further efforts are needed to achieve UEMOA's objectives.

UEMOA's efforts to promote regional integration are critical to the economic and social development of its member states. The Union's initiatives aim to create a larger market, promote economic growth, and improve the living standards of its populations. The annual review of reforms, policies, programs, and community projects is an essential component of UEMOA's strategy to achieve these objectives.

The 12th edition of the review is expected to make recommendations for the effective implementation of community projects and reforms. The outcome of the review will be communicated to the Conference of Heads of State and Government, which will take note of the progress made and provide guidance on the next steps.
